“I know the world is bruised and bleeding, and though it is important not to ignore its pain, it is also critical to refuse to succumb to its malevolence.” — Toni Morrison
Every day I look carefully at the world around me and make choices about what I will let into my heart. I see pain and suffering, injustice and vengeance but I also see good people helping others. The movements in the world are like a chess board, every day there is a new move made. If I see only the surface level, I see moves and counter moves. I notice these moves but do not delve into their details or repercussions. Instead, I pay attention to the invisible chess game beneath the surface. I see energies shifting back and forth between peoples and places, a continuous dance over generations, always seeking to return to balance. What is the real story I am seeing unfold in the world? Today let me look beneath the surface. (Photo by Felix Mittermeier)
